Additional Compute Nodes Added to NIH Biowulf (Biowulf)
Date: 13 September 2011 08:09:49From: steven fellini (sfellini@NIH.GOV)
The Biowulf staff is pleased to announce the addition of 328 compute nodes (3936 cores) to the cluster. An additional 56 nodes (672 cores) will be added within 60 days. The new nodes each have 2 Intel 2.8 GHz X5660 processors with 6 cores each, 24 GB of memory and 130 GB of local disk scratch space. Since HyperThreading has been enabled on the processors, the nodes will in many cases support a total of 24 threads-of-execution. Therefore the nodes will have a "core number" property of "c24". The "memory-per-core" property for these nodes will be "m1", and the "memory-per-node" property will be "g24". Jobs allocating these nodes will be "charged" for 12 cores against the per-user limit rather than 24, effectively doubling the per-core limit on these nodes.
