Upcoming DOWNTIMES for NIH Biowulf (Biowulf)
Date: 13 July 2011 14:07:20From: steven fellini (sfellini@NIH.GOV)
During the next several weeks the NIH Data Center which houses the Biowulf Cluster will be transitioning to a new Continuous Power System. This system will provide significantly more and reliable power than is currently available. However the transition will result in numerous disruptions to the operation of the Biowulf compute nodes. The expected partial and total downtimes are as follows: -- Tonight, as previously announced, half of the "e2666:c8:g24" nodes will briefly be powered down. -- On the evening of July 27/28, ALL "e2666:c8:g24,g72" nodes will briefly be powered down. -- During the day on August 6, ALL compute nodes will briefly be powered down. For each of these periods, jobs running on the affected nodes will be terminated (which means ALL running jobs will be terminated on August 6). Queued jobs will be unaffected during all periods. The Biowulf login node and user /home and /data directories will remain available during each period.
