New Biowulf Login Node (Biowulf)

During the maintenance period this past Monday, the Biowulf
login node (biowulf.nih.gov) was upgraded to a new hardware
platform.  Please note the following:

-- The login node is now running the 64-bit version of Linux.
   Users who compile code may experience problems related
   to linking newly compiled code with pre-existing 32-bit
   libraries.  If you need assistance in compiling your
   code please contact the Biowulf staff (staff@biowulf.nih.gov).

-- The login node is now connected to the NIHnet backbone network
   via 10 Gb/s ethernet.  Users who likewise have 10 Gb/s 
   access to the NIHnet core should experience an increase in
   file transfer performance.

-- As before, compute intensive applications should not be run
   on the login node.
