Date: 18 August 2009 10:08:03From: steven fellini (sfellini@NIH.GOV)
This message is a follow-up to the announcement of August
7th to Helix Systems users.
The entire Biowulf cluster will be shut down on Friday
August 28, and will be unavailable for 24-48 hours (this
is the first downtime for the cluster since June 2008).
During the downtime Biowulf staff will reconfigure
filesystems, networks, and upgrade the PBS batch system.
A provisional schedule for the downtime follows:
Friday August 28
3 pm: the batch system will be shut down. All running
and queued batch jobs will be deleted from the
system.
6 pm: the login node (biowulf.nih.gov) will be unavailable.
Depending on the progress of the various maintenance
activities, the cluster could be back online as early as
Saturday afternoon, or as late as Sunday afternoon.
E-mail will be sent to Biowulf users when the cluster is
again available.
Please send questions and comments to staff@biowulf.nih.gov.
