Mathematica 7 is now installed on the Helix systems. Some new features include: built-in parallel computing, integrated genomic and protein data, and sequence alignment and analysis. For more information on the new features of Mathematica, see http://www.wolfram.com/products/mathematica/newin7/ For more information on using Mathematica on the Helix systems, see http://helix.nih.gov/Applications/mathematica.html Matlab 2009a has also been installed on the Helix systems. Additional licenses for the Curve-Fitting Toolbox, Statistics Toolbox, Image Processing Toolbox and Optimization Toolbox were also added in response to user demand. Some new capabilities of Matlab include: multicore support for fft and other Matlab functions, generation of Simulink blocks from symbolic math expressions in Symbolic Math Toolbox, support for population pharmacokinetic (PK) modeling in SimBiology using nonlinear mixed effects (NLME) models and expanded functionality of mass spectrometry functions for use with other bioanalytic separation techniques.
