A new systems biology tool: Biobase Knowledge Library now available to all NIH staff (Helix)
Date: 10 November 2008 00:11:00From: Helix Systems Staff (staff@helix.nih.gov)
CIT would like to announce the availability of a new systems biology tool, the Biobase Knowledge Library, available at no charge to all NIH researchers. The Biobase Knowledge Library (BKL) has recently been installed on the Helix Systems at NIH. BKL is a powerful, web-based collection of gene-regulation-oriented scientific databases including Transfac, Transpath, several Proteome databases (HumanPSD, YPD, WormPD). This web tool is designed for research applications including biomarker discovery, gene set enrichment analysis, functional analysis, SNP analysis, genotyping, gene expression analysis and drug discovery. In addition, the ExPlain analysis tool can use the data in BKL to create a biological interpretation of microarray, proteomic and ChIP-chip data, map putative transcription factor binding sites on promoters in focus, identify key molecules upstream of TFs, and functionally classify genes according to GO terms and signaling pathways. BKL and Explain are available at http://helixweb.nih.gov/biobase. Access to these resources will require your NIH domain username and password. Tutorials for using these tools are also available on the website. Upcoming training courses for BKL & ExPlain: http://training.cit.nih.gov/coursepicfull.asp?cnumber=474&term=09F http://training.cit.nih.gov/coursepicfull.asp?cnumber=475&term=09F.
The courses are free but registration is required: click on the URLs to register. For questions regarding BKL or the Helix Systems, send email to staff@helix.nih.gov Helix Systems, CIT, NIH
